This velvet cap is made with organic cotton velour scaps, layered with recycled upholstery fabric to give the cap a sturdy shape. Additionally some secondhand webbing and elastic were used to finish the piece. The organic cotton velour scraps are pre-consumer production waste from Finnish sustainable fashion brand MORICO.
This sporty, yet glam cap was made by layering the burgundy cotton velour with a sturdy white recycled upholstery fabric to remove any stretch. In the brim of the hat, 3 layers of the sturdy fabric were used to create a quite stiff form. Usually brims are stiffened with a piece of plastic, which we avoided due to difficulties in recycling these plastic parts. The cap is finished inside with a band of secondhand webbing. At the back it has a piece of stretchy elastic, so it can fit a variety of head sizes.
This hat is a cool and sporty, yet luxurious and glam accessory. The velvety velour fabric adds a certain shine and softness to this classic shaped hat. Due to the thickness of the fabric, it doesn't only protect you from the sun, but also provides some protection against wind in colder weather.
MORICO is a finnish sustainable brand, creating ethical and slow fashion. This product is created with some of their pre-consumer scraps - cut-offs in the production process of their clothes and accessories. Their high quality organic cottons, viscose and other fabrics are too precious to waste, so we took some of the small and weird pieces and created a small collection of unique Wasteless Wonders products with them.
